The following are answers to some of the questions I’m most commonly asked regarding my design services.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a logo cost?

My current rates for logo design vary depending on what your logo requires and your budget. Please fill out my services request form and I'll get in touch within 24 hours with a quote.

Will you be designing the project or do you outsource it to someone else?

I will be designing your project myself. I don’t have a team or any staff working for me, and I never outsource my design projects to anyone else.

Everything on my portfolio was created by me and is indicative of the quality standards you can expect when hiring me.

How long does it take to have a project completed?

I’ll have your first drafts sent over within three days of starting a project, depending on how much work needs to be done. Changes/revisions are returned within 24 hours of request (excluding weekends and major holidays.) From there it’s just a matter of how many revisions will be needed.

Once we’ve outlined the scope of work and agree on a price I’ll be sending over a standard service agreement for you to look over and approve before getting started. It addresses timelines and the like in more detail.

If you have a specific deadline you need the project completed by, please express this upfront so that it is factored into the price and I can fit it into my schedule accordingly.

How is payment handled?

For smaller projects ($500 and below), full payment is required upfront in order to secure a spot in my schedule and begin work. For larger projects (above $500), I can accept a 50% deposit to start, then the remaining 50% to be paid after the first drafts are delivered. I accept payment via PayPal, cheque (payable to Kimberly Vandenberg), and all the major card merchants
(Visa, Mastercard, etc.).

What if I don’t like the designs?

If you’re not happy with the designs I present then you can elect to cancel the project if you’d like.

Due to the nature of releasing original ideas and the investment of time it requires, I can only refund 50% of the cost if you’ve already paid in full. Deposit payments are non-refundable.

Refund requests must be made before the 2nd round of revisions. This is to prevent people from canceling on me after having spent days and weeks working on countless revisions.

Once we’ve outlined the scope of work and agree on a price I’ll be sending over a standard service agreement for you to look over and approve before getting started. It addresses refunds and the like in more detail.

What file types will I receive?

You will receive all of the files and formats you could possibly ever need for your project.. Here’s the main formats…

  • SVG – True vector format. This is the editable source file that can be edited by me, you, or another designer if need be.

  • PNG – Rasterized format with a transparent background. Ideal for applications where your logo will be layered over a preexisting background, like websites, advertisements, mobile apps, etc.

  • JPG – Another rasterized format, similar to PNG, only without a transparent background because JPG doesn’t support alpha channels.

How does copyright/ownership of the final design work?

Copyright remains my property and is assigned to you after payment of fees in full. Details about copyright assignment and usage is addressed in the service agreement sent for you to look over and approve before we get started. If you wish to transfer copyright ownership, an extra fee will incur; please get in touch if this is something you're interested in.

Would you be willing to sign an NDA?

I completely understand the role that non-disclosure agreements play in securing your intellectual property, but I’m not a big fan of signing documents that put me in a legally vulnerable position and restrict my ability to promote my work.

If you’d rather I not share your finished design on my portfolio or marketing materials, just ask me not to and I’ll be glad to respect your need for privacy. If you insist on having a signed NDA then I may not be the right designer for you.

Do you offer any other design services?

Yes! Please see my services page for current design services I offer.

Can I discuss my project with you over the phone?

Due to the amount of traffic and inquiries that passes through this website every day, I have to reserve phone time for paying clients. Unfortunately there is not enough time in the day for me to get on the phone with everyone who is inquiring about my logo design services.

I’ll be glad to discuss your logo needs and go over all of the details with you via email.

Once you are a paying client and we have a project in the works, I’m always available to take a call if there’s something you’d like to discuss over the phone.
